Saturday mid-morning, the house grew dark...the sky opened up and the rain came down like blankets.
It was cool outside, there were soft rumbles of thunder, and a few strikes of lightning.
- my favorite day -
I love when it rains, it is so relaxing to watch and listen to as it dribbles down the window panes.
The rain smelled clean and fresh, the grass and all of my flower gardens got watered, it was wonderful.
Nowhere to go, nothing to do...
it rained most of the day and I was able to get in some watercoloring painting.
I am not sure if I will ever be a watercolor painter, my hands are not loose or free flowing enough.
It is a different "feel" and "style" of painting.
I keep all of my painting supplies inside this basket I made during one of Lizes classes.
I watched a few videos on youtube, I am still learning,
I painted 3 pictures, all in this book, and although I know they could look better,
I am satisfied with the outcome.
I had fun, I am looking forward to getting the paints and brushes out again.

I think you're doing very well, Debbie. Your work is looking lovely and that book seems to give you a solid base. But I hope you'll reframe your thoughts! You wrote: I am not sure if I will ever be a watercolor painter, my hands are not loose or free flowing enough.

Yes, the media is different. Watercolor is tricky. But don't worry about being loose or free flowing. Some watercolors are very precise, very detailed. Others, very loose. It's all in the water -- how much you use, how thick or thin you choose to make your paint. How tightly or loosely you hold your brush. How large or small your brush is. Some watercolor is very abstract. Get a blank watercolor or mixed media sketchbook and let your hands do what they want to do. You may find you have a whole style of your own.
What you are doing so far is wonderful -- I find it hard to believe you haven't painted before. So I hope you keep with it.
Hello Debbie,
Your three paintings all look beautiful to me.
You did great! Take care, enjoy your day and have a great week!
So pretty. Great job.
What a great book. Love it! You did terrifically!
I would say you are doing a fantastic job of it, I am use to starting out with at least a line drawing, I don't know if I could do that well on my own, so fun to have different hobbies for sure :)
The poppy is my favorite. Great job. I like your setup.
Well, I am giving you a big clap :)
I think these watercolours look lovely.
All the best Jan
Hi Debbie, its been a long time since I have been on blogger. I am taking some time today to peruse old friend's sites. I took up watercolour painting about 7 years ago, after painting with acrylics for over 20 years. Watercolor is a very difficult medium, and I think you are doing great! Cheers!
